1. Taare Zameen Par 

 The success story of a dyslexic child. And how his teacher supported him and his love for painting yet making him capable. This movie will make a grown man cry ;(  

2. Masaan 

  The story is about two people facing similar situations of loss but under different circumstances. It is about a lover who loses his girlfriend, and about a girl who loses her dignity & respect in society. Eventually the meeting of both helping each other out through their situations.  

3. Lapata Ladies 

 In the early 2000's a newly married couple, travelling by train gets separated under chaos and confusion. Leading to exchange of brides on the train, the movie ends with the meeting of the couple at the railway station itself. Happy and sweet ending. 

4. Rockstar

 A movie about two friends (secretly lovers) and how they would cross any limits for each other no matter what happens. Tragic ending, yet worth it.

  

5. Maharaja

 Newly added on Netflix, this has been a hit. The movie has the biggest plots of all time, it keeps you hooked even with a slow start. A revenge story of a father, from the father (ifykyk).

6. Sita Raman

  Starring Mrunal Thakur and Dulquer Salman, the storyline revolves around a royal princess and how she fells for an army man. Again, ending is tragic yet worth it.

7. Manjhi the mountain man

 A real-life based movie, where in the husband (Mr. Dasrath Manjhi) carves out a mountain all by himself, after an accident. The movie feels like a wave of sadness yet a sense of relief, ironic.

8. Qala

 The movie starts with a girl named Qala who wins award for her singing. All in the movie it is how her mother's validation and appreciation was something she craved for, by the end movie takes a dark turn. 

9. Chennai Express

  Fun, light hearted and emotional. When Rahul boards a train to Goa, destiny takes turn and he reaches Chennai, via Chennai Express, where his end (Meena Amma) awaits him. 

10. Mrs. Chaterjee vs. Norway

  Based on a real life case, Mrs. Chaterjee mother of 2 children fights for her kids and their custody. It is an eye tearing success story of a mother and how she saves her children.  

11. Shastry vs. Shastry

   When a dispute between father and son takes place over the custody of grandson. Leads to a case filing in the court and transfer of parents abroad sweet and cute ending.  

12. Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein

 RHTDM is a classic. When Maddy falls in love with Reena he switches up into Rajeev, who is going to marry Reena. Trouble takes place when the real Rajeev shows up. 

13. Kal ho na ho

 A girl who lost her father meets a boy who gives her a new perspective of life. Soon she realizes something doesn't match and she marries her best friend instead . Rather gives a totally new ending to the movie.

14. Mimi  

  Surrogate mother to an American couple, a woman gives birth to a boy. The couple doesn't turns up at the time of delivery creating chaos in the woman's life. The boy calls the woman Mimi.

15. Drishyam 

 A family man, fan of Bollywood not very educated, faces allegations of murder of a teenage boy. Things turn different when the boy is son of the DGP. 

16. Mili 

 Jahanvi Kapoor, starring as Mili, works as an employee at Mac Donalds. She is in a relationship with a boy who is about to leave for his job, out of the city. Movie is spine chilling (quite literally).

17. Bajrangi Bhaijaan 

 A sweet heartwarming film, when a non speaking girl from Pakistan gets stuck in India. It revolves around her reunion with her family.  

18. Raees 

 Raees Alam since his early days becomes a businessman and smuggles alcohol all over Gujrat. Although that doesn't lasts long and action prevails all along.

19. Dangal

 Mahavir Singh Phogat, former Indian wrestler, father of 5 girls, losses his dream of teaching his SON wrestling and getting gold for India. But soon he realizes that his girls are far more capable than he could ever imagine. 

20. Tamasha

 Ved and Tara who meet on their vacation create a romantic relation. Although when in real they meet she realizes Ved is a complete different person. A moment for Ved turns into a life mending decision.

 

21. Sanju

 A real life documentary of Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbeer Kapoor reflects his struggles throughout. An emotional see-through in his life. 

22. Guru

  Starring Abhishek Bacchan and Aishwarya Rai, Guru is a movie inspired by Dhiru Bhai Ambani loosely. It is a success story of an entrepreneur who faces struggles and finds his way forward.  

23. Bhool Bhulaiya

 Not a rom com, not a horror, not a comedy but a mix of all. The Science and Culture and superstitions and myths happening all under one roof, total chaos.

  Due to circumstances, a poor meticulous student fails to go to Harvard. Even after his struggles he fulfils the purpose of his life, in quite a different way.

  The movie revolves around a woman who runs a brothel in a India, not so modern. She makes sure her girls are safe and secured. The movie can make you cry. 

26. Jodha Akbar 

  Based on the real Jodha Akbar, at the time of Mughals reigning India. It's a bittersweet love story.

27. Vivah 

  Love of most Indian girls, it's a nostalgic movie. A cute rom-com, with the best actors.

28. Chapaak

  When a woman gets acid attacked, her life changes, almost coming to an end. But she stands up for herself and against the attackers. Based on real life incidents.

29. Thappad

 A happily married couple living the best of their lives. One accident changes their life, upside down. 

30. Dhadak

 You're gonna cry. This movie, by the end, keeps you on toes. It's just too good.

31. MOM 

  When her Mom modes gets on, she takes on her revenge. Nothing escapes her but the suspense is real. 

 

32. Badhai Do

 In a society where homosexuality is seen as a sham, a married couple work out a deal, hence being happily married. 

34. Secret Superstar

  A teenage girl, growing in a strict orthodox family, finds her comfort in music. Things take turn when she finally pulls her mother out of the deadly marriage.

  One of the best movies, makes you realise the need of friends and the happiness that surrounds, with them. It's comforting makes you feel a little less alone.

  The dabbawalas mix up tiffins reaching different desks. But they find friends in the most unexpected ways, a spark that clicks between two strangers.
